Match rate

The match rate is the share of your organic sessions for which Keyword Hero names a keyword. The rest keep a label, such as (not provided). On average, Keyword Hero matches 93%.

In the app, compare the Total organic sessions figure on the Overview with Show Not Provided off and on.

The Show Not Provided toggle in the top bar of the app.
  • Off, the figure counts matched sessions only.
  • On, it counts all organic sessions.

Divide the first by the second. 507 sessions off and 600 on is a match rate of about 84%.

  • Time. Keyword Hero trains on your own history, so the rate rises over the first weeks.
  • Size. Larger websites match better, because there is more data to match on.
  • Search Console coverage. A hostname without a Search Console property cannot be matched at all.
  • Other search engines. Bing and Yahoo traffic is never matched, and counts against the rate.
  • Accuracy over coverage. Keyword Hero leaves a session unmatched rather than guess. A slightly lower rate is the price of conversions you can rely on.

If the rate is still below 70% after four weeks, something in the setup is usually missing. Work through Low match rate.
