Low match rate

A large share of your organic sessions still shows a label such as (not provided) instead of a keyword. Work through these checks in order. Match rate shows how to measure it.

Keyword Hero trains on your own history, and the match rate rises over the first weeks. Judge it after four weeks, not after four days.

Turn on Show Not Provided and look at the labels.

  • Many sessions with (not provided)_subdomain_add_searchconsole: a subdomain has no Search Console property in your setup. Add it.
  • Many sessions with (not provided): check that every protocol and hostname is selected, https:// and http://, www. and the bare domain.

A new Search Console property needs about three days to collect its first data. Wait at least five days after adding one.

(not provided)_bing and (not provided)_yahoo are never matched. If they make up a large share, your match rate for Google is higher than the overall figure. See Keyword labels.

4. Does something rewrite your organic data?

Section titled “4. Does something rewrite your organic data?”

Rules in Google Analytics that change the source, medium or landing page of organic sessions, or that replace (not provided) with page titles, prevent matching. See Verify your setup.

Small websites match less precisely, because there is less data to match on. That improves as traffic grows, and cannot be fixed in the setup.

If the match rate is still below 70% after four weeks, write to support@keyword-hero.com with your domain and the match rate you measured.
